Reading from Tuesday June 4, 2013 yoga class
I have been sick all week. I actually cancelled class last Wednesday and I don't cancel too many classes. I am feeling better and I am taking antibiotics...big ole horse pills, two of them, twice a day... but it made me feel better. I kick and scream about going to the doctor and taking medicine. I think I am realizing that at 61 yrs old things are not going to be like when I was 31!! It's a hard lesson. I have also been "sick" about a tree that was removed on Main Street in front of Blush. As a member of the Madison Tree Board, I could DO NOTHING about it. I called the Mayor only to be told the tree was being removed at 7am the next morning. A beautiful Linden gone. I won't go into the messy details.
So... according to Native American lore, fireflies represent INSPIRATION. I will never look at another firefly without thinking inspiration. How cool!!
I emailed a friend and yoga teacher, Kim Esteran... a fabulously wonderful lady, teacher, person, etc., etc. I quote a little from her email which touched me deeply:
"There is a fine balance between
LEARNING
DOING
BEING
If I make time to "be" then the learning and doing will fall into place."
"All things start small and grow. Tending to the seeds you've planted changes you as well as them...we are always in the right place at the right time, even (and perhaps especially) when we don't know it. The effect could be in changing just one person's life, and given that opportunity, wouldn't you jump at the chance?"
Thank you, dear Kim.
