Reading from Wednesday, June 12, 2013 yoga class
Anne Lamott has a new book entitled "Help Thanks Wow" 3 essential prayers. I have read several of her books, which I enjoyed. WOW is what I shared with class today.
WOW
Is a child seeing the ocean for the 1st time
A teenager's secondhand Christmas car
John Muir
Walt Whitman
Mary Oliver saying "the sun was the best preacher that ever was"
WOWS come in all shapes and sizes.
Lowercase WOWS
When you crawl between clean sheets after a hard day
Poppies blooming in a field that was destroyed by a grass fire the summer before
Seeing a baby anything... kittens, dogs, turkeys, baby birds (this is my lowercase WOW)
Uppercase WOWS
Autumn days
Yosemite
Fireworks
Watching puppies being born
The planets
That we ended up on the one planet where someone thought up Monopoly and Oreos
Beer
Rock n' Roll
My Uppercase WOWS
Seeing a Red Tail Hawk flying above me
Clifty Falls State Park
John Denver
Beech Trees...in fact, ALL trees
Spring is the main reason for WOW--being all hope, beauty and glory--buds opening--bright green grass--blue skies--In Spring we stretch and expand in all directions.
Autumn ain't so shabby for WOW--Colors are broccoli and flame--the tang is apples, death and wood smoke--the rot smells faintly of grapes, fermentation--the air moist--and you sleep under 2 down comforters in a cold room.
So... what would your WOWS be?? Lowercase, Uppercase. A nice thing to think about.
