Reading from Wednesday, May 21, 2014 yoga class
More wisdom from Judith Lasater and the training I took at the beginning of the month. Some of these I may have mentioned from last week classes, so they MUST be worth reading again. :)
You can't DO stillness--it has to arise slowly and of its own accord... like a shy kitten coming out from his hiding place.
The biggest mistake we make is that we think we have to be different than who we are.
Having everything perfect is exhausting.
Habit is the enemy of being present.
Too much of anything, be it good or bad, always causes stress.
Vitamin R=Rest Vitamin P=Pleasure These vitamins are as important as any vitamin you would take orally.
When we take in pleasure, it nourishes us.
You have NO idea of what you can do!!
Our stillpoint is bigger than the agitations of the mind.
To laugh at yourself is GOOD mental health.
The way to distinguish energy and agitation--true energy is EVEN--Feel even.
How human of me-- it's all okay.
The work is ALWAYS on yourself.
No complaining.
Complaining is not the same as asking for what you want.
If you are bored with your yoga practice, don't practice for 3 weeks--you will appreciate your practice so much more.
Controlling everything will not make you happy, loved or safe.
When you let go of the abdomen, the back feels better.
Tell the truth about HOW you feel, rather than HOW you think.
Perspective doesn't change your life, IT IS your life.
A building with 7 floors--which floor are you on? It's not bad to be on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd floors, just don't get stuck there.
Having opinions is not wrong, but clinging to them is wrong.
Your sangha (community) of like minded souls is very important, very nourishing.
