Reading from Tuesday, December 13, 2011 yoga class
First off... many thanks to Pam Brown for teaching my class last night. I heard it was great!! Thanks for all of you that came to class to support Pam. I am SO proud of her.
Whenever I am away from home... even for a few days... I am always so glad to get home. Like Dorothy said while she clicked her ruby slippers: There's no place like home. It was great to see my in-laws. My father-in-law is amazing... 87 years young... still learning... sharp as a tack. He just purchased a new Apple computer the day before we arrived and was so anxious to show it off. One of those new, fancy dancy, clear as a bell screen, with no CPU and a little compact keyboard. We ate, we laughed and we even went to the ocean. I walked on the sand and touched the Atlantic in December!! Cool!!! I saw a big glob on the sand and realized that it was a jelly fish and then read the board as we were getting back into the car that said: Dangerous marine life... Portuguese Man of War/Jelly Fish. YIKES!!! But if I had seen the sign, I might not have taken my shoes and socks off and walked on the sand and put my toes in the ocean.
I taught a chakra yoga class and yoga nidra at Gilda's Club in Louisville on Tuesday morning. One of my yoga buddies, Becky, teaches a weekly class on Tuesdays. I am always humbled when I am there among people whose lives have been affected by cancer or need support and comfort after the loss of a loved one. Amazing wisdom and insight from these lovely people. I drove home with a full heart.
So... I have digressed... here's the reading from class:
Some short quotes to make you think:
That which matters the most should never give way to that which matters the least.
Listen, listen, listen...
Your outlook on life is a direct reflection of how much you like yourself.
Life is full of setbacks. Success is determined by how you handle setbacks.
Do one thing a day that scares you.
Dance, sing, floss and travel.
Friends are more important than money.
Stress is related to 99% of all illness.
The conscious brain can only hold one thought at a time. Choose a positive thought.
"There will never be a storm that can wash the path from my feet, the direction from my heart, the light from my eyes, or the purpose from this life.
I know that I am untouchable to the forces as long as I have a direction, an aim, a goal: to serve, to love, and to give.
Strength lies in the magnification of the secret qualities of my own personality, my own character, and though I am only a messenger, I AM ME."
