Reading from Tuesday and Wednesday, July 8 and 9th yoga classes
My friend Bev teaches yoga and the following is what she shared with her classes a couple of week ago. So... thanks to Bev for allowing me to share it with all of you.
Walking barefoot is good for you because:
People who walked barefoot in their childhoods encounter much less foot troubles and foot deformities as adults.
Barefoot walking helps straighten out the toes. The muscles of the feet are prompted to move and develop more, resulting in better toned and stronger foot muscles.
Barefoot walking helps the leg muscles pump blood back to the heart. This is beneficial for those who are suffering from varicose veins.
Barefoot walking helps relax tired feet. It is also beneficial for people suffering from flat feet, and in many cases helping them overcome the problem altogether.
Walking barefoot outside has a cooling effect on the body, especially walking on grass. Helps ease the mind, relax the body and boost energy levels.
It is believed that activities performed while barefooted such as yoga, tai-chi, etc. helps a person absorb life-force energy increasing your vitality and sense of well being.
And finally the following which I personally think is fabulous!!! I have read it everyday since Bev posted this. I hope you enjoy it too:
In certain tribal societies persons coming to the medicine man complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, would be asked the following questions:
When did you stop dancing?
When did you stop singing?
When did you stop being enchanted by stories?
When did you stop finding comfort in the sweet territory of silence?
