4th klesha--Dvesha (aversion to pain) Trigger: Resistance
How and What we avoid!!!
The first step in self-discovery, which is what the study of the kleshas is all about, is AWARENESS!! When we start noticing our tendencies, then we can come from a place of compassion...and that takes us towards healing and balance. Another thing to consider and think about in regards to this klesha, is the pressure we put on ourselves to be able to do something on the first try--on our yoga mats AND off the mat. Each time we notice or feel resistance this tells us of our habits of avoidance and aversion. What poses do you avoid because you don't like them? How do you avoid them? Our weaknesses help us grow and they appear when we need them the most--to welcome possibility and disregard our fear to bring us to a place of acceptance.
Pema Chodron looks at it as "living without an agenda." Hang out in that space where we're not entirely certain about who's right and who's wrong. In that open space of acceptance.
