From the inside

Reading from Wednesday, August 26, 2015 yoga class

From the book, "Health, Healing and Beyond" by T. K. V. Desikachar

"It is the genius of modern science to approach the individual from the outside, from the standpoint of the problem.  This is the very meaning of allopathic.  Because of this approach, some of mankind's ancient scourges have been eliminated, i.e. smallpox.  It is impossible to overstate the contributions of modern science in ending suffering and restoring health.

Yoga approaches the individual from the inside, through the mind.  Yet each individual is not simply a mind, but a system.  Actually, each of us is a conglomeration of a vast system.  This system is more than my body, which is nourished by food.  It is more than my breath, more than my relationships, more than my faith.  Any influence upon one aspect of the system will affect every other aspect.  What we experience in Yoga is a conscious influence and change in the overall system.  We may choose to begin with the body, the breath, our food, our relationships.  Whatever the point of beginning, we change the totality of the system.  It is impossible to overstate the possibilities of this gradual approach to well-being in our lives."

Tonight was our last class at our current space.  We are moving to our new space at 601 W. Main Street and changing our name from Lulo Yoga to Yoga on Main.  Our first classes will be on Saturday, August 29th.  Come and check us out.
