Reading from Wednesday, February 3, 2016 yoga class
I recently went to a yoga class in Louisville at Infinite Bliss with my friend Becky. It was taught by Denise, the owner of the studio. It was a GREAT class. The day I was there she brought her new Shih Tzu puppy to class, Pippin, whom she had just picked up the day before. He sat next to her as she taught class... I couldn't keep my eyes off of him.
Denise sends out a newsletter and this month's was on Pippin and her pot-bellied pig, Cooper. She describes Pippin as an extrovert, playful and persistent who wants Cooper to be his friend. She continues:
"And so he has taken to chasing and playing tug of war with Cooper's wagging tail. He has learned that it is safer to approach Cooper, who has been rather jealous of the new addition and a bit aggressive, from the back-side.
As yogis we view our life as a gift to be received--our life is a blessing...We get to choose how we interact and to whom we will bind ourselves in relationship. We learn through our journey that some connections enhance our life and the world around us and some do not. When we make valuable choices that enhance life, life becomes more beautiful and full.
Who and what are you binding yourself to these days? Not just relationships with your friends, co-workers, but also with the Divine and our precious Earth. And don't forgot your relationship with your mat. Your mat is an ideal place to connect.
As for the Cooper + Pippin bond--Cooper is tolerating the tailgate game and even a few friendly paw jabs at his face. He is NOT willing to share his oil heater in the kitchen but he is sometimes willing to let Pippin lie in his bed while he warms himself at the heater keeping watch. This weekend when the weather was superb, he did a dance and poked Pippin back in a friendly way. So I am hopeful that this particular relationship will evolve toward benefiting both parties. I sure know they both enhance my life!"
